Reflections from Readers: Jacqui
In preparation for the launch of Re-Membering Purpose, i asked a few folks to provide feedback on the book that could be used on the back cover. One such person, my dear friend, sister and colleague Jacqueline Patterson, shared a piece that was a bit longer than i could fit on the back cover. So i put it here, in its entirety, with deep gratitude:
Dr. Ife Afriye takes the reader on a journey that feels like an honor to be given a window into these thoughtful, soulful, heartful reflections on her life and relationships from pre-conception until present.
At times raw and at others whimsical, this exploration of self and purpose is ever open, curious, and honest. By modeling a deep well of introspection, Dr. Ife Afrye invites one to plomb the depths of one’s own reason for being.
I laughed. I cried. I was compelled to deeply contemplate my own life, as I read every word, some passages twice. With each letter, the reader is introduced to another dimension and another set of emotions, from joy to pain to shame to hope, confusion, pride, happiness, disappointment, fear, anxiety, devastation, wonder, determination, etc. And that’s just to name a relative few!!
Thank you, Dr. Ife Afriye, for sharing your mind, soul, and heart, with us all!!
