On Fear
What is the role that fear plays in your life? For me, the things i have feared the most were largely of my own creation. They were the stories i made up to bring into focus things that i couldn’t see or understand. They emerged from the assumptions i made about what might happen, sometimes based on reality (past experiences) but often reflective of things i made up. Regardless of the source - real or imagined - fear can be engaged in productive ways. As i ask my self the questions on the left below, i offer them to you too: How do i choose to engage fear? How far might i go in life if i leaned into and learned from fear? What might the impacts of my decisions and actions have beyond my lifetime by shifting my relationship with fear?
Alongside these questions, i offer a reflection on the cycle that fear creates if allowed.
How do you engage this force?
As teacher, a piece of information, something from which to learn?
As a ruler, a slaver, something that dictates how you show up in the world?
As an advisor, limiting force, albatross around your neck?
How far might you go…
…if you leaned into the inner knowing that you are on your path?
…if you received the message that fear delivered, thanked it for showing you something and proceeded anyway?
…if you shattered unhealthy cycles, replaced toxic habits with healthy ones and walked with audacious fearlessness?
If fear ceases to rule…
What might become of you?
What legacy might be left in the wake of your life?
What difference might you make in the lives of those yet to be born?
